An innovative answer to an AS1428 dilemma!
Necessity is the mother of invention, no more than with recent changes to the accessible code AS1428.1 — 2009. One of the areas of change has been in Accessible and Ambulant toilet partition locks and controls and Metlam being at the forefront of innovation, have designed and released the patented 600 Series Slide Lock that is both compatible and compliant to the revised Standard.

An end of an era .... but temporarily!
1 July 2011 saw the founder of Metlam, John Birkett officially retire.
However, after an extended and long overdue holiday after many years of dedicated and selfless sacrifice and service in developing and growing Metlam into becoming the company it is today, in conjunction with his partner Brian Bishop along with the dedicated Metlam team, now sees the beginning of the next phase in Metlam, and John's involvement continues on.
We’re pleased to announce that John will act as a part-time consultant (you can take the man out of the business ... but not the business out of the man) from which our whole team, and our global customer base will continue to benefit for many years to come.
Whilst John may have handed the reins over to Brian, who is now the Metlam Managing Director, he will still play a behind the scenes role for the next several years in aiding our future growth objectives.
Metlam's Product Catalogue / WEB site and New Products, with some exceptional features
Released in early 2011, Metlam’s new Product catalogue & WEB site are proving a resounding success. The catalogue and WEB site have been meticulously designed with the primary requirements of product specifiers in mind, along with our merchants, achieving an opverall objective for ease of use and incorporating the type of detail needed in providing a fulfilling user experience.
The outstanding features of the catalogue and WEB site are:
- Easy to use alpha based Index reference guide
- Product items in group categories e.g. Soap Dispensers
- Easy to read, detailed data and drawings where applicable
- Assurance that your local Metlam representative will keep your new reference catalogue as up to date as possible (please note that we recommend to always check on our WEB site, as this is ALWAYS as up to date as we can make it)
Metlam's New Product Releases
Over the past several months, due to market demand, we have developed and released several new products or added to categories; with a brief summary as follows:
- Series 600 Slide Lock in our Toilet Partition Hardware - stylish, easy to install and extremely user friendly
- Our Signage category has expanded to take into account new requirements under AS 1428.1-2009 as released in May 2011
- Baby Change Stations - a new Slimline Series that is stylish, robust and ideal for confined spaces or simply to take up less space in a Parent Change Room environment
